Synopsis:

Come January 2020, do you know how these updates will affect your Board? Are you taking the necessary steps to prepare? Harold Weidman, insurance appraisal expert and educator, will explain the factors you NEED to know to navigate these changes with confidence. Topics include: the Corporations’ standing on betterments and improvements; and how an accurate appraisal may prevent you from paying excessively more than needed.

Bio:

Harold Weidman started appraising condominiums in 1974 and these assignments over the years included project costing for financing and insurance total loss as well as unit appraisals for financing and litigation purposes. He has also had experience in completing assignments related to Alberta New Home Warranty Program disputes, implementation of the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program provided by CMHC and appraisals related to remediation and restoration of properties impacted by marijuana grow operations.

Harold has appeared as an expert witness before The Federal Tax Review Board, Court of Queen’s Bench, Alberta Surface Rights Board and before the Calgary Assessment Review Board and Municipal Government Board with regard to condominium reserve fund studies on comprehensive multi-family properties. He has been involved in insurance arbitration and preparation of appraisal reports related to insurance replacement cost disputes.

Harold is a licensed appraiser and has held National senior appraisal designations since 1979. Harold is the president of Reliance Asset Consulting Inc. which specializes in insurance appraisals and reserve fund studies.
